Richmond High Street is set to welcome a new two-storey barbershop later this month, bringing new jobs and a barber training academy to the town centre.
Sammie’s Studio will open its largest location to date on Monday 28 September, taking over the former Curated Men unit on Richmond High Street.
The new premises will also become the headquarters of the South and South West London barbershop business.
The ground floor will feature a five-chair barbershop, while the first floor will become home to the new Sammie’s Academy, a dedicated training space for people looking to enter or develop a career in barbering.
Across the site there will be nine barber chairs.
Sammie’s Studio was founded eight years ago with its first shop in Banstead, Surrey, before expanding to Worcester Park, Fulham and Northcote Road.
The company says Richmond has long been one of its target locations and the new opening represents its biggest expansion so far.
New barbering jobs in Richmond
The opening will also create employment and training opportunities locally.
Sammie’s Studio is recruiting barbers for both the Richmond shop and academy, including newly qualified barbers, college students and people interested in developing a career within the industry.
The academy will allow the business to train new barbers alongside its established team while operating from the same Richmond High Street premises.
Launch party before official opening
Local residents will also be able to see the new shop before its official opening.
Sammie’s Studio will hold a launch party on Saturday 26 September from 6pm, with music, drinks and an opportunity to explore the new premises.
The event will be open to existing customers and Richmond residents.
The barbershop will then officially begin trading on Monday 28 September.
Haircuts will start from £20 with a junior barber and £35 with a senior barber, with both appointments and walk-ins available.
Opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm, Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
With its new headquarters, academy and expanded team, Sammie’s Studio says it hopes the Richmond location can become a long-term part of the High Street while helping train the next generation of local barbers.
